[ the spring had always been his favorite seasoning. the promise of new beginnings. fresh flowers, high hopes, leaving the darkness and cold that is winter. it had also been his mother's favorite season, too, and she always had fresh flowers around the tiny apartment, even though they couldn't afford much else. while some aspects of her faded with time, the little things stuck to akechi, even through the darkness, and reminded him of a better time, of what his life could have been.
it's spring, and he can't help but look out the window of his tiny apartment with a twinge of guilt. it's been two and a half very long hours already and he's certain that it'll all be worth it - to see shido suffer, to avenge his mother - but .. but it's been taxing. he had started out angry, bitter, shutdown, but... but he was starting to honestly wonder if this was the right way to go about things. if this was the only way. was there a life beyond this? beyond playing puppet to a man he hated?
sometimes, he lost himself in a world where he was a writer, not a detective and tv personality. a world where all he cared about was reading books, writing them, and talking to akira. because akira, while a newer friend he happened to meet on a website forum over conspiracy theories on a certain book series, was beginning to change his mind about a lot of things. not everything, of course, but ... but akira's sheer presence, his sassy texts...
Wouldn't it be easier to send it to your new address and not your work one? I promise I won't take advantage of that sensitive information.
[ ... he just assumes akira is sending him a safe address because, you know, internet stalkers and all that jazz. he actually hasn't realized that one, akira is in tokyo, and two, he's staying at the cafe he tends to frequent. ]
See some drunk asshole politician (I think??) had me arrested on trumped up charges, saying I assaulted him when I got between him and a woman he was going to hurt and he stumbled and fell.
And my parents are going through a divorce and can't deal with my probation.
And Shujin Academy is the only school that'd take me.
And the cafe owner here is a friend of Mom's friend who had space in his attic.
[ ... that's a lot to take in. it did explain akira's silence the past couple of days, actually. still, akechi can't help the tiny, real smile that creeps up on his face as he texts back. ]
Yeah. Sojiro doesn't want me going off on my own just yet. I've only been here a few days. I don't think he trusts me (∥ ̄■ ̄∥)
[And to be honest? It's nerve-wracking. He's been friends with Goro for a while now and it's hardly the first time he's made a friend over the internet, but he's never met one of his online friends in real life.
[ he'll show up at eight precisely! working on tv tends to lend itself to being on time no matter how crazy traffic is. angry reporters and directors are the worst.
he steps into the familiar leblanc with his usual calm demeanor, but truth be told, he had lingered at the start of the street for a few moments. had stalled and thought better of coming here. akira would be a distraction, and he couldn't afford something like that when he was so close. less than a year before he could get his revenge. and yet... and yet he still heads inside, for better or for worse, hair perfectly fluffy and outfit devoid of any wrinkles. ]
@fiftyfour; spoilers & au style

it was all a start. ]

So if you still wanna send me that book, you'll have to send it to my new address (ノ^o^)ノ
no subject
Oh? You moved? I didn't know you had plans to do that.
[ ....huh. he would have wished him luck with the move had he known? ]
no subject
it's a long story, but you can send the book to Cafe Leblanc, Yongen-Jaya, Tokyo.
no subject
I promise I won't take advantage of that sensitive information.

no subject
No, that is my new address.

\(★^∀^★)/
[Akira stop.]
no subject
Ah yes, I know the place.
Sakura Sojiro, yes?
no subject
That's him, yeah. I have no idea if it's close to your apartment, though.
no subject
But I frequently go to Leblanc in the evening, usually once or twice a week.
no subject
no subject
Actually, given that you'll be attending Shujin, it's actually on your way.
You'll need to make a transfer there.
no subject
I'm serious, Goro, that rail system is not user-friendly.
no subject
[ he hesitates before sending up a follow-up text ]
Does this mean you'd like to meet up?
no subject
That'd be great, actually. You said you know your way to the cafe?
no subject
Of course. Would it be easier for you to meet there?
no subject
[And to be honest? It's nerve-wracking. He's been friends with Goro for a while now and it's hardly the first time he's made a friend over the internet, but he's never met one of his online friends in real life.
Also he'd probably get lost.]
no subject
In that case, I'll come over when you're settled in.
I'm usually pretty free most evenings.
[ which translates to: just tell me when. he ignores the way his stomach knots at how much of a bad idea this all is. ]
no subject
Today'd be good, if you're free?
no subject
That works for me.
I'll stop by around eight if that's not too late.
no subject
[It's about three now...plenty of time to get his attic room cleaned at least a little bit and then run down to the baths down the street.
And fuss with his hair why is it so damn curly...
Either way, he's ready and waiting for Goro by seven thirty.]
no subject

no subject
Then he's smiling.]
Goro?
no subject
There's something other than boring physical attraction. It bubbles and simmers under the surface and he doesn't know quite what it is. Fate? ]
Ah. Hello, Akira.
[ It feels odd hearing his given name aloud. ]
no subject
Yeah, that's me. Surprise?
no subject
A bit. [ he heads over and takes a seat nearest akira, ignoring the tiny-smirk that sojiro gives him. ]
You're cuter in person. [ zing ]
