[ the fact that nagisa and rei had demanded he wear traditional yukata to the festival should have been the first tip off that something was afoot. then again, he had shrugged and agreed to it only because makoto had offered a plate of fresh mackerel if he went without complaint. bribery was usually fine amongst friends.

that still didn't mean that he didn't feel a bit flushed, a bit too warm, with how heavy the fabric was. yes, it was made to breathe, but he really would have preferred a t-shirt and pants. or shorts. shorts were easier to strip off if there was a sighting of water.

it was nice - oh so nice - of his friends, though, to be fashionably late to the festival. they were already five minutes late, actually, which should have also been a tip off that something was so afoot it wasn't funny. rei and makoto never were late, and nagisa usually sent a million texts apologizing if he was going to be even a second late. or just a lot of sadface emotes.

his phone wasn't beeping at all.
